Does Nordic Spaces Have an On-Staff Design Team?
Yes. Nordic Spaces has dedicated, experienced designers on staff who provide complimentary in-store design guidance. Whether you're starting from scratch in a new home, refreshing a single room, or planning around a piece you already love, our designers can help you think through the decisions that make a space feel cohesive and considered.
There's no consultation fee, no minimum purchase, and no pressure. The guidance is part of what it means to shop with us.
What Does the Design Process Look Like?
1. Tell Us About Your Space
It starts with a conversation. We'll ask about how you live, who's in the home, what's already there, and what you want it to feel like. Bring photos, floor plans, Pinterest boards, or just an idea you can't quite put into words. We'll meet you wherever you are in the process.
2. Walk the Showroom
We'll walk you through our showroom and introduce you to the brands and pieces that might fit your project. You'll get to see, sit on, and touch the furniture so you understand what each option actually feels like. This is also where we surface ideas you may not have considered, like a sleeper sofa from American Leather for a guest room or a Skovby extending table for entertaining.
3. Choose Materials and Finishes
This is often the part that feels overwhelming on your own. With hundreds of fabric, leather, wood stain, and hardware options, we help you narrow down choices that work together as a whole. We can pull samples, compare colors in your space's natural light, and talk through how different fabrics perform with kids, pets, and daily life.
4. Plan the Layout
We'll talk through how the pieces will work in your room, including scale, proportion, traffic flow, and how individual pieces relate to each other. If you have a floor plan, we can help you visualize the layout. If you don't, we can help you measure and plan.
5. Place the Order
Once you're ready, we'll handle the order, keep you updated through production, and coordinate delivery. Custom orders typically take 8 to 14 weeks. In-stock pieces can be delivered much sooner.

Who Are Our Designers?
Our designers know the products on our floor inside and out, from how a Stressless mechanism is engineered to why a particular Greenington bamboo finish holds up better in high-light environments. They've helped hundreds of Alaskan homeowners design spaces they love, and they bring that experience to every consultation.
How Do I Schedule a Design Consultation?
The easiest way to schedule a consultation is to call us at (907) 273-4333 or stop by the showroom during business hours. If you'd like dedicated one-on-one time with a designer, we recommend calling ahead so we can match you with the right team member and reserve time on their calendar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the design consultation really free?
Yes. We don't charge consultation fees, retainers, or hourly rates. Our designers are part of our team, and the guidance is included with shopping at Nordic Spaces.
Do I have to buy everything at once?
Not at all. Many customers furnish their homes in phases. Our designers can help you create a plan that works with your timeline and budget, prioritizing the pieces that matter most first.
Can you help with rooms beyond the living room?
Absolutely. Our team works on living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, home offices, and entryways, plus mattress and sleep planning through our Malouf collection.
What if I don't know what my style is?
That's exactly when our designers are most useful. They'll ask the right questions, walk you through the showroom, and help you identify what resonates. You don't need to have it figured out before you walk in.
Can you help match new furniture to existing pieces?
Yes. Bring photos or measurements of what you already have, and we'll help you select pieces that complement what's there rather than fight it.
